The meeting joined architecture –
and art students as well as civil engineer students from Eastern and Western
Europe. They were experienced or interested in combinations of art and
architecture and engaged in social processes like participation of
non-professionals in building sculptures.
Together with the same
partners from
Vilnius and Kaunas (Lithuania) , Poznan and Bialystok (Poland)
Timisoara (Romania) , Enschede (The Netherlands) , Münster ( Germany), who
developed ideas ,outlines and models during the "KAJA –spring 04" and new
partners ( in total up to 40 participants ) we realized workshops to build
the models in real scale 1:1, who were designed in spring 04 in scale 1:10 as
temporary installations and sculptures, most possible in the sense of follow up
– projects of the REGIONALE 04, a big event, which took place in the
Münsterland in 2004 ( see documentation of part I :
EUROPEAN EXPERIMENTS I )
The common projects , social sculptures and
architecture installations joined regional partners, who involved social
handicaped young people as well as students from the University of Applied
Sciences in Münster, who were responsible for the professional design and
organisation of building process of the main project red funny line. The meeting
was supported by the European Commission, program "youth",the youth -department
of the "Kreis Steinfurt", the city of Ibbenbüren, the Kreisparkasse ( regional
bank ) and the REGIONALE 2004 |

REGIONALE 2004 + EUROPEAN
EXPERIMENTS PART I

The
meeting was a follow up project in connection with
the great event " Regionale 2004 - on the left and on the right of the Ems river
" ( May – October 2004), a cooperation of cities and villages in the
European Region “Münsterland”, supported by the government of the German
Federal State Northrhine-Westfalia ( see :
www.regionale2004.de)
" .Official
part was a culture program, to which the
first part EUROPEAN EXPERIMENTS I
was related. During the “KAJA – spring 04”
partners from
Romania, Poland, Lithuania, The Netherlands and Germany developed
ideas, outlines and models, more than 16
projects of temporary
installations and sculptures for the new
REGIONALE – places. After
official representatives of the "Regionale 2004" and of
city administrations took part in the final project - presentation and
evaluation, it was decided, that some of the projects should have a chance
to be realized in original – scale 1 :1, during “KAJA – spring 05”
.

"sustainable development" -
after the REGIONALE 2004 was ended in autumn 2004 : The initiators of the
REGIONALE 2004 had in mind from the beginning on, that "their
child" will grow, that follow up projects will be influenced by the
REGIONALE 2004 spirit . Impulsed by this "order" KAJA has
found acceptance for the further cooperation under the last year partners
to start the realization phase for some elected projects in May 2005.

In
front of the general KAJA
conception ( see : theoretical background ) especially projects for
realization were choosen, which have a “participation”- dimension,
projects, who invite
new partners and participants not only as helpers to realize the idea
of others ( architects and artists
from “European Experiments I” ), but as co- authors with own
ideas and contributions to common projects.The
participants worked in so called "future workshops"
involving young people from youth centres and young people with special
needs in facilities of the public education in the region Münsterland. |

Workshop place |
The central workshop took place in the " KULTURSPEICHER DÖRENTHE” in Ibbenbüren, connected with the
REGIONALE – themes “Botschaftsgärten” and “Kanalband”.
The local partner "Förderverein Kulturspeicher
e.V." , who offered some hundred square meters of the Kulturspeicher
- a former grainstore in the harbour Dörenthe - , for the ideas-
and model workshop in spring 04, agreed to continue the project. Involving the head of Kulturspeicher
- organisation, Dr. Overmeyer and his friends two projects,
"red snake" and "picture gate" were choosen for
realisation.
The third project "sign at the channel", was impulsed by the Mr. Friedrich
Wolters, head of the REGIONALE 2004 GmbH.
